Billy was also the Technical Director of three different State Youth Associations (Utah, Montana, Cal South).
Fully credentialed from USSF, NSCAA and A.C.E.P. McNicol adds to his knowledge the proven success of having coached National Champion teams at the Professional and Youth levels.

A former professional player himself, Billy made the transition to coaching in Utah where his High School Boys teams won five State Championships in six years. He followed that with eight consecutive State Titles with the High School Girls teams.

Moving on to work with Elite Youth Players, he was Head Coach (Boys) for the
Region IV Olympic Development Program for nine years. During that time he identified and trained many players who would go on to represent the United States at the World Cup. (Eric Wynalda, Cobi Jones, Joe-Max Moore, John O’Brien…) In 1996 Billy was chosen to be the Head Coach for the U18 and U16 Men’s National Teams, helping develop players such as Chris Albright, Carlos Bocanegra, Steve Cherundolo and Damarcus Beasley.

In 2005 Billy joined the Los Angeles Galaxy Coaching Staff and before the year was out helped guide the team to win the “Coveted Double”…Major League Soccer Cup and the United States Open Cup.
